IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:
Today, I would like to tell you about an ideal classmate I had back in high school, named Linh.
We studied together for almost three consecutive years (ba năm liên tiếp – three consecutive years = three years in a row).
Throughout that time, we collaborated on a variety of school projects, from science fairs to group presentations.
What made Linh truly stand out was her quick-witted personality (tính cách lanh lợi – quick-witted = able to think and respond quickly) and her meticulous attention to detail (sự chú ý tỉ mỉ đến chi tiết – meticulous attention to detail = being very careful and precise). She was not only academically gifted (có năng khiếu học tập – academically gifted = naturally good at studying) but also incredibly down-to-earth (khiêm tốn – down-to-earth = practical and humble), which made working with her both efficient and enjoyable.
One reason I liked her was her can-do attitude (thái độ tích cực, sẵn sàng làm việc – can-do attitude = a positive and proactive approach to tasks). No matter how complex the assignment was, she always approached it with unwavering determination (sự quyết tâm không lay chuyển – unwavering determination = strong and steady effort without giving up). For example, during a particularly challenging biology project, she took the initiative (chủ động – took the initiative = acted without being told) to organize meetings, divide up tasks, and follow up on everyone’s progress. Thanks to her, we not only got top marks but also enjoyed the process.
Another thing that made her stand out was her emotional intelligence (trí tuệ cảm xúc – emotional intelligence = the ability to understand and manage emotions). She always knew how to resolve conflicts in a diplomatic way, often acting as the peacemaker (người hòa giải – peacemaker = someone who helps resolve conflict). Her presence created a harmonious classroom atmosphere (bầu không khí lớp học hài hòa – harmonious classroom atmosphere = a peaceful and friendly learning environment), which was vital in a competitive academic setting.
All in all, Linh was the kind of person who could balance brains and heart, and working with her taught me not only academic skills but also team spirit and mutual respect. She is, without doubt, the most ideal classmate I’ve ever had.

IV. Part 3
❓ What makes a good team member?
A good team member is someone who possesses strong interpersonal skills (kỹ năng giao tiếp cá nhân tốt – the ability to interact effectively with others) and can work well in a fast-paced environment (môi trường làm việc tốc độ cao – a place where tasks must be done quickly). One key trait is the ability to collaborate seamlessly (phối hợp trơn tru – work together without conflict), which ensures that the project flows without unnecessary delays or misunderstandings. For example, in my university group project, the person who consistently listened to others’ opinions and adjusted their ideas accordingly helped the team reach consensus faster. Another vital quality is being self-motivated (tự thúc đẩy bản thân – having the drive to work hard without needing supervision), because in group settings, not everyone can be monitored all the time. A goal-oriented mindset (tư duy định hướng mục tiêu – focused on achieving outcomes) also helps the member stay aligned with the team's objectives. I once worked with someone who stayed overtime voluntarily just to meet our deadline – that dedication truly boosted team morale. In short, a mix of effective communication and personal accountability defines a valuable team member.
New Vocabulary (with Vietnamese + English definitions):
strong interpersonal skills – kỹ năng giao tiếp cá nhân tốt – the ability to communicate and work well with others
fast-paced environment – môi trường làm việc tốc độ cao – a place where things happen quickly and constantly
collaborate seamlessly – phối hợp trơn tru – work together smoothly without conflict
self-motivated – tự thúc đẩy bản thân – driven to complete tasks without being told
goal-oriented mindset – tư duy định hướng mục tiêu – focused on accomplishing set goals
effective communication – giao tiếp hiệu quả – the clear exchange of information
Synonyms:

❓ How important are workplace friendships?
Workplace friendships are incredibly important as they can increase both job satisfaction (sự hài lòng với công việc – how content someone is at work) and overall productivity. When colleagues share a bond, they are more likely to support one another and go the extra mile (cố gắng hết sức – do more than what is required) in difficult situations. For instance, I had a colleague who stayed behind after hours just to help me finish a presentation – something that wouldn’t have happened without that friendship. Moreover, having workplace friends helps reduce occupational stress (căng thẳng công việc – stress caused by work) by offering a built-in support system (hệ thống hỗ trợ sẵn có – a network of people you can rely on in times of need). This can lead to a more positive work culture (văn hóa công sở tích cực – a work environment where people feel respected and happy), where employees feel genuinely connected. On the other hand, toxic environments with no friendships can cause burnout and high turnover rates. Hence, fostering friendship at work is not just beneficial, it’s essential for long-term team success. Ultimately, friendships make the workplace more than just a place to earn a paycheck.
New Vocabulary (with Vietnamese + English definitions):
job satisfaction – sự hài lòng với công việc – the pleasure you get from your job
go the extra mile – cố gắng hết sức – do more than what’s expected
occupational stress – căng thẳng công việc – stress that arises from job-related issues
built-in support system – hệ thống hỗ trợ sẵn có – an internal network offering help and care
positive work culture – văn hóa công sở tích cực – an encouraging and healthy workplace environment

IELTS TUTOR xét ví dụ: “Workplace friendships can increase both job satisfaction and overall productivity.”
Antonyms:
job satisfaction – job dissatisfaction, burnout, career frustration
❓ Should students choose project partners?
In my opinion, students should be allowed to choose their project partners because it helps create a comfortable learning atmosphere (môi trường học tập thoải mái – a stress-free academic setting). When learners work with people they trust, they tend to communicate more openly and take more academic risks, which can lead to deeper learning (học sâu – more meaningful understanding). For example, in my last group project, my friend and I explored a controversial topic with confidence because we felt safe sharing bold ideas. On the other hand, relying on random assignments might result in mismatched skill sets (bộ kỹ năng không phù hợp – uneven distribution of strengths) or conflicts in working styles. While it's true that life doesn't always allow us to choose, forcing students to adapt too early might reduce collaborative efficiency (hiệu quả hợp tác – how well a team works together). Moreover, giving students autonomy in selecting teammates teaches them decision-making skills (kỹ năng ra quyết định – the ability to make smart choices), which are vital in adult life. Still, I believe a mix of both methods—sometimes letting them choose, other times assigning randomly—could strike the right balance. Overall, student choice often results in more successful and enjoyable group work.
New Vocabulary (with Vietnamese + English definitions):
comfortable learning atmosphere – môi trường học tập thoải mái – a stress-free environment for studying
deeper learning – học sâu – acquiring complex understanding beyond surface knowledge
mismatched skill sets – bộ kỹ năng không phù hợp – differences in abilities that cause imbalance in teamwork
collaborative efficiency – hiệu quả hợp tác – how effectively a group works together
decision-making skills – kỹ năng ra quyết định – the ability to choose wisely and logically
Synonyms:
collaborative efficiency – teamwork effectiveness, group synergy, joint productivity
