IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:

Today, I would like to tell you about a goal I successfully achieved – getting a high GPA in my first year of university.

The goal was to maintain (to continue at a certain level – duy trì) a GPA above 3.8, which is considered quite exceptional (unusually good – xuất sắc) in my Business Administration major.

To achieve this, I followed a rigid timetable (strict and inflexible schedule – thời gian biểu nghiêm ngặt) and broke down all my assignments into smaller tasks to stay on track.

Achieving this goal was not easy at all, and I found it challenging for two main reasons.
First, the workload was incredibly overwhelming (too intense to manage – quá tải), especially during midterm and final exam weeks. I often had multiple deadline-driven assignments (tasks that must be completed by a fixed date – bài tập có thời hạn) piling up, and on top of that, I had to revise for tests. To deal with this, I avoided all distractions by studying in soundproof rooms (rooms that block outside noise – phòng cách âm) in the library, and I used productivity apps like Forest and Notion to manage my time effectively. These small habits added up and helped me stay focused throughout the semester.

Second, there were times I felt completely burnt out (mentally and physically exhausted – kiệt sức) due to the nonstop pressure. What helped me get through it was staying active—going for short walks or doing a quick workout between study sessions. I also leaned on my study group for support. One of my closest friends created shared revision folders (online folders for group study – thư mục ôn tập chia sẻ) where we could upload lecture notes and practice questions. This teamwork made the preparation process much less stressful and far more efficient.

When I finally saw my GPA result – a solid 3.85 – I felt an immense sense of fulfillment (great pride and satisfaction – cảm giác hài lòng to lớn). It was not just about the number, but about proving to myself that with hard work and the right strategy, I could overcome any academic challenge.

IV. Part 3

1. Should employees set personal goals?

Absolutely, setting personal goals is essential for employees because it gives them a clear-cut direction (clear-cutrõ ràng, dễ hiểuclear and unambiguous) in their career development. When workers know what they want to achieve, they are more likely to stay self-motivated (self-motivatedtự tạo động lựcdriven without external encouragement). For example, an employee who aims to become a team leader within two years will likely seek skill-enhancement workshops (skill-enhancementnâng cao kỹ năngaimed at improving abilities) to grow professionally. Another reason is that personal targets help people prioritize their workload (prioritizeưu tiên hóaarrange tasks in order of importance), ensuring they focus on what truly matters. This results in higher efficiency and a lower chance of burnout (burnoutkiệt sức vì làm việc quá nhiềua state of emotional and physical exhaustion). I’ve seen colleagues who didn’t set any goals become directionless (directionlesskhông có định hướnglacking a clear aim or plan) and eventually lost passion for their work. On the flip side, goal-oriented employees tend to remain engaged and achieve long-term success (long-termdài hạncontinuing for a significant period of time). Therefore, having personal ambitions can lead to both personal fulfillment and professional advancement.

2. What rewards motivate workers?

I believe the most motivating rewards (motivatingtạo động lựcinspiring people to take action) are those that align with an employee’s personal values (personal valuesgiá trị cá nhânwhat someone finds important in life), such as recognition and opportunities for growth. While monetary bonuses are attractive, non-monetary incentives (non-monetarykhông phải tiền mặtrewards not involving money) like flexible schedules or training programs can be even more impactful. For instance, my friend received a paid online course as a reward for her performance, which boosted her confidence and helped her feel truly valued (valuedđược coi trọngrecognized as important). Another effective reward is public acknowledgement (acknowledgementsự công nhậnrecognition of achievement) because it boosts morale and strengthens loyalty to the company. Employees are more likely to stay when they feel their contributions are seen and appreciated (appreciatedđược trân trọngrecognized positively). Moreover, providing meaningful rewards creates a win-win situation (win-winđôi bên cùng có lợibeneficial to all parties involved). From what I’ve seen, companies that prioritize emotional and career-related incentives often enjoy better retention rates. So, combining tangible and intangible rewards is the key to keeping workers inspired.

3. Why is shopping more popular now?

One main reason shopping has become more popular is the rise of e-commerce platforms (e-commercethương mại điện tửbuying and selling online) which allow people to shop from the comfort of their own home. With just a smartphone, people can access a wide assortment of products (wide assortmentđa dạng mặt hànga large variety of items), often at discounted prices. For instance, people now frequently shop during flash sales (flash saleskhuyến mãi chớp nhoángshort-term discounts), which were rare a decade ago. Another factor is that shopping has become a leisure activity (leisure activityhoạt động giải trísomething done for enjoyment) rather than a necessity. Many individuals go to malls not just to purchase items, but to unwind and socialize (unwindthư giãnrelax) with friends and family. Additionally, social media has created a consumer-driven culture (consumer-drivenbị thúc đẩy bởi người tiêu dùnginfluenced by buyers’ preferences), making people feel the need to keep up with trends. People now perceive shopping as a form of self-expression (self-expressionsự thể hiện bản thânshowing one’s identity or taste). That’s why it's not surprising that shopping is not just more frequent, but also more emotional and symbolic than before.>> tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?
