Today, I would like to tell you about a skill I can confidently teach — public speaking, a powerful life skill that I’ve spent years honing and one that has served me in countless real-world situations.

I first picked up this skill during high school when I had to participate in a nerve-racking (căng thẳng – extremely stressful) debate competition. At the time, I was incredibly shy, but that event marked the beginning of my transformation. Since then, I’ve delivered speeches, hosted events, and even conducted workshops — all of which have helped me become a more articulate (ăn nói lưu loát – able to express ideas clearly and effectively) and self-assured (tự tin – confident in one's own abilities) communicator.>> tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?

If I were to teach public speaking, I’d begin with helping learners overcome their fear of the spotlight (nỗi sợ nói trước đám đông – fear of being the center of attention). I believe that the key lies in creating a safe, judgment-free environment (môi trường không phán xét – a setting where learners feel free to make mistakes) where people can practice without pressure. I’d use tried-and-tested (đã được chứng minh hiệu quả – proven to work) methods like mirror practice, voice modulation exercises, and spontaneous speaking drills. More importantly, I’d incorporate real-world simulations (mô phỏng tình huống thực tế – practice sessions mimicking real speaking scenarios) to help students adapt to various settings, whether it’s giving a toast, a business pitch, or a TED-style talk.

What I find most rewarding about this skill is how empowering (mang lại sức mạnh – giving someone confidence and control) it is. Being able to convey your thoughts with clarity and conviction (truyền đạt rõ ràng và đầy thuyết phục – communicate in a confident, persuasive way) is not only useful in school or work, but also in everyday life. It can boost your credibility, build stronger relationships, and open doors to new opportunities.

All in all, teaching public speaking isn’t just about teaching techniques; it’s about helping others find their voice. And being part of that journey would give me immense satisfaction (sự hài lòng to lớn – a great sense of fulfillment).

IV. Part 3

Which age group learns best?

I believe young adolescents (thanh thiếu niên – individuals aged 10-15) learn most effectively due to their neuroplasticity (tính dẻo của não – the brain's ability to adapt and form new connections). Firstly, their brains are highly receptive to cognitive stimulation (kích thích nhận thức – activities that challenge thinking), allowing them to absorb languages, problem-solving skills, and abstract concepts (khái niệm trừu tượng – ideas not tied to physical objects) rapidly. For example, studies show children who learn a second language before puberty achieve near-native fluency (mức độ thông thạo gần như người bản xứ – proficiency close to native speakers). Secondly, this age group exhibits heightened curiosity (sự tò mò cao độ – a strong desire to explore), which fosters active engagement (sự tham gia tích cực – deep involvement) in learning. However, late adulthood (tuổi trưởng thành muộn – older age) also presents unique advantages (lợi thế đặc biệt – distinct benefits), such as life experience (kinh nghiệm sống – accumulated knowledge from years of living) aiding practical comprehension (sự hiểu biết thực tế – understanding based on real-world application).

New Vocab:

  1. Neuroplasticity (EN: brain adaptability / VN: tính dẻo của não)

    • Synonyms: flexibility, adaptability, malleability

    • Antonyms: rigidity, fixedness, stagnation

    • Example: "Young adolescents benefit from neuroplasticity, making language acquisition easier."

  2. Abstract concepts (EN: non-tangible ideas / VN: khái niệm trừu tượng)

    • Synonyms: theoretical ideas, intangibles, hypotheticals

    • Antonyms: concrete facts, tangible objects, realities

  3. Heightened curiosity (EN: intense desire to learn / VN: sự tò mò cao độ)

    • Synonyms: inquisitiveness, eagerness, thirst for knowledge

    • Antonyms: apathy, disinterest, indifference

Grammar Structures:

  • Comparative clause: "Young adolescents learn more effectively than adults due to neuroplasticity." (VN: So sánh hơn)

  • Present perfect: "Studies have shown that children acquire languages faster." (VN: Thì hiện tại hoàn thành)

How can teaching methods improve?

Teaching methods could improve by incorporating interactive technology (công nghệ tương tác – digital tools that engage users), such as gamified learning (học tập trò chơi hóa – using game elements in education). Firstly, student-centered approaches (phương pháp lấy học sinh làm trung tâm – focusing on individual needs) enhance knowledge retention (khả năng ghi nhớ kiến thức – remembering information long-term). For instance, schools using virtual reality (VR) simulations (mô phỏng thực tế ảo – digital recreations of real scenarios) report higher engagement in science classes. Secondly, formative assessments (đánh giá định kỳ – ongoing evaluations) instead of high-stakes exams (kỳ thi quan trọng – tests with major consequences) reduce stress and encourage deep learning (học sâu – thorough understanding). However, teachers must balance technology with human interaction (tương tác con người – face-to-face communication) to avoid social detachment (sự tách biệt xã hội – lack of interpersonal connection).

New Vocab:

  1. Gamified learning (EN: education using game mechanics / VN: học tập trò chơi hóa)

    • Synonyms: game-based learning, interactive education, playful pedagogy

    • Antonyms: rote learning, passive instruction, lecture-based teaching

  2. Formative assessments (EN: progress-checking evaluations / VN: đánh giá định kỳ)

    • Synonyms: continuous feedback, developmental tests, ongoing reviews

    • Antonyms: summative exams, final tests, one-time assessments

  3. Social detachment (EN: lack of human connection / VN: sự tách biệt xã hội)

  • Passive voice: "Technology should be integrated into classrooms." (VN: Câu bị động)

  • Conditional: "If schools adopted VR, students would benefit." (VN: Câu điều kiện loại 2)

Are practical skills more important than academic skills?

Hands-on abilities (kỹ năng thực hành – skills gained through direct experience) often outweigh theoretical knowledge (kiến thức lý thuyết – book-based learning) in real-world applications (ứng dụng thực tế – practical usage). Firstly, vocational expertise (chuyên môn nghề nghiệp – job-specific skills), like plumbing or coding, ensures employability (khả năng có việc làm – readiness for jobs). For example, Germany’s apprenticeship system (hệ thống học nghề – training combining work and study) produces highly skilled workers. Secondly, problem-solving agility (khả năng giải quyết vấn đề linh hoạt – quick adaptability to challenges) matters more than rote memorization (học vẹt – repeating information without understanding) in fast-paced industries (ngành công nghiệp tốc độ cao – rapidly changing fields) like tech. However, academic rigor (tính nghiêm ngặt trong học thuật – strict scholarly standards) remains vital for research-driven fields (lĩnh vực nghiên cứu – areas requiring deep analysis) like medicine.

New Vocab:

  1. Vocational expertise (EN: job-specific skills / VN: chuyên môn nghề nghiệp)

  2. Problem-solving agility (EN: quick adaptability to challenges / VN: khả năng giải quyết vấn đề linh hoạt)

    • Synonyms: resourcefulness, quick thinking, adaptability

    • Antonyms: inflexibility, rigidity, sluggishness

  3. Rote memorization (EN: learning by repetition / VN: học vẹt)

    • Synonyms: mechanical learning, mindless repetition, cramming

    • Antonyms: critical thinking, understanding, comprehension

Grammar Structures:

  • Comparative adjective: "Practical skills are more crucial than academic knowledge in trades." (VN: So sánh hơn)

  • Present participle clause: "Combining theory and practice, education becomes holistic." (VN: Mệnh đề hiện tại phân từ)
