IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:
Today, I would like to tell you about a film that I can watch over and over again without getting bored — Forrest Gump, a truly iconic masterpiece.
This heart-warming (adj – đầy cảm xúc tích cực, làm ấm lòng – emotionally uplifting and comforting) film is about the extraordinary life journey of a simple man named Forrest, whose slow-witted (adj – chậm hiểu, kém thông minh – not very intelligent or quick-thinking) nature never stopped him from living a remarkable life and influencing the world around him.
I first watched it a few years ago during a movie marathon (noun – buổi xem phim liên tục nhiều giờ – an extended viewing session of multiple films) with my friends at my cousin’s house. It was one of those rainy weekends when going outside wasn't an option, so we curled up on the couch and got completely immersed in the story.
One reason I genuinely liked it was because of its thought-provoking (adj – khiến người ta phải suy ngẫm – making people think seriously about a topic) narrative. Forrest’s journey through various historic events in the U.S., paired with his innocent yet profound perspective on life, made the story incredibly relatable (adj – dễ đồng cảm – easy for others to understand or connect with emotionally) and deeply moving (adj – gây xúc động mạnh – causing strong emotions, especially sadness or sympathy).>> tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?
I would gladly rewatch this film for two main reasons.
Firstly, the multi-layered storyline (noun – cốt truyện có nhiều tầng ý nghĩa – a plot that has many meanings and depth) offers something new every time. Each viewing reveals subtle details that I might have missed before, such as historical references or symbolic imagery. For instance, the feather floating at the beginning and end of the movie is a metaphor for the unpredictability of life — a detail that escaped me the first time.
Secondly, the stellar performance (noun – diễn xuất xuất sắc – outstanding acting) by Tom Hanks never ceases to amaze me. He brought the character to life with such nuanced emotions (noun – cảm xúc tinh tế – subtle and refined emotional expression) that you can’t help but root for Forrest. His famous line, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get,” has become an enduring quote that perfectly captures the film’s spirit.
All in all, Forrest Gump is a timeless classic (noun – tác phẩm vượt thời gian – something appreciated across generations) that continues to resonate with me no matter how many times I watch it.

IV. Part 3
1. Why do films remain popular?
One main reason why films continue to be immensely captivating (extremely interesting – cực kỳ hấp dẫn) is their power to evoke deep emotions (make people feel something strongly – gợi lên cảm xúc mạnh mẽ), whether it’s joy, sorrow, or suspense.
Audiences are drawn to compelling stories that reflect real-life issues or take them into imaginative, far-fetched worlds (not likely to happen – tưởng tượng, khó xảy ra).
For example, blockbusters like Inception or Parasite offer both visual spectacle and thought-provoking narratives (stories that make people think – cốt truyện gợi suy nghĩ), which keep viewers glued to the screen.
Another reason is the ever-evolving cinematic technology (constantly changing film-making technology – công nghệ làm phim luôn đổi mới), which enhances the viewing experience.
From state-of-the-art CGI (cutting-edge computer-generated imagery – công nghệ đồ họa tiên tiến) to immersive sound design, movies today are more engaging than ever.
Moreover, watching a film is a cost-effective leisure activity (cheap way to spend free time – hoạt động giải trí tiết kiệm chi phí) that fits perfectly into people’s busy lives.
Even with short attention spans, people can commit to a two-hour film to unwind and escape reality.
So, films maintain their popularity by combining emotional resonance (the ability to affect feelings – sự ảnh hưởng cảm xúc) with technological artistry and storytelling.
2. Should governments support local film industries?
Yes, I strongly believe governments should provide financial backing (money support – hỗ trợ tài chính) to their domestic film sectors.
Local films often preserve cultural identity (keep national traditions alive – gìn giữ bản sắc văn hóa), offering unique stories that reflect the values, dialects, and lifestyles of specific regions.
For instance, Vietnamese films like Dad, I’m Sorry bring attention to family relationships rooted in local customs.
Moreover, supporting the industry can boost the creative economy (economic sector related to creativity – nền kinh tế sáng tạo), creating jobs for writers, actors, and technicians.
Without proper funding, independent filmmakers struggle to compete with big-budget international productions (films with huge amounts of money – phim quốc tế có ngân sách lớn).
Government subsidies help level the playing field and encourage innovation in local cinema.
In the long run, this not only promotes cultural pride but also attracts global recognition and tourism.
Therefore, investing in film is both a culturally enriching (improving national culture – làm giàu văn hóa) and economically wise decision.
3. How have streaming platforms changed film-watching?
Streaming platforms have radically transformed how people consume films by offering on-demand accessibility (watch whenever you want – khả năng xem theo yêu cầu).
People no longer need to visit cinemas or wait for TV schedules, which is incredibly convenient for those with hectic lifestyles (very busy lives – cuộc sống bận rộn).
This shift has also led to a boom in binge-watching culture (habit of watching multiple episodes/movies at once – văn hóa xem liên tục), especially among younger audiences.
Moreover, algorithms on platforms like Netflix personalize viewing suggestions (recommend films based on your tastes – đề xuất phim theo sở thích), keeping users hooked.
Another change is the rise of diverse, low-budget productions (films made with little money but unique ideas – phim kinh phí thấp nhưng sáng tạo) gaining visibility.
Unlike traditional cinema, streaming platforms democratize access, giving indie filmmakers a chance to shine.
However, it has also led to a decline in cinema attendance and threatens the communal viewing experience (watching films as a shared social activity – trải nghiệm xem phim tập thể).
In sum, while streaming brings flexibility and variety, it also changes the social and economic fabric of film-watching.
