IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:
Today, I would like to tell you about Tokyo, a vibrant and futuristic metropolis that I had the chance to visit a few years ago.
I went there in the spring of 2019 during a university break.
During my trip, I explored famous landmarks (landmark – điểm mốc nổi tiếng; a prominent or well-known location) such as Shibuya Crossing and Tokyo Tower, enjoyed cherry blossoms in Ueno Park, and sampled mouthwatering street food in Tsukiji Market.
What made Tokyo so unforgettable and why I’m eager to return are two main reasons. First, the city strikes a perfect balance between ultra-modern infrastructure (infrastructure – cơ sở hạ tầng; the basic physical systems and structures of a city) and deep-rooted tradition. For example, while walking through high-tech shopping malls in Shinjuku, I also stumbled upon ancient temples and peaceful shrines, which offered a serene escape (serene – thanh bình; calm, peaceful) from the city's hustle and bustle. This blend of old and new created a uniquely enriching cultural experience.>> tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?
Second, the Japanese people left a lasting impression on me. They were incredibly courteous (courteous – lịch sự, nhã nhặn; polite and respectful) and always ready to help, even with the language barrier. Once, I got lost in a narrow alley, and a local not only gave me directions but even walked me halfway to my destination. That level of kindness is few and far between (few and far between – rất hiếm khi xảy ra; very rare), and it truly touched me.
So, Tokyo is not just a place I want to revisit – it's a destination that captured my heart with its contrasts, hospitality, and cultural depth.

IV. Part 3
❓ Why do people migrate to cities?
Many people relocate to urban areas mainly for better career prospects (Cơ hội nghề nghiệp tốt hơn – better job opportunities), as cities tend to offer a wide range of industries and positions. One key factor is the higher earning potential (Khả năng kiếm tiền cao hơn – the ability to earn more money), which is often unavailable in rural areas. For instance, young graduates often move to major metropolitan areas (Khu đô thị lớn – big and important cities) to find well-paying jobs in fields like finance or technology. Another compelling reason is the access to advanced amenities (Tiếp cận với tiện nghi hiện đại – the availability of modern facilities and services), such as healthcare, education, and entertainment. Urban dwellers benefit from state-of-the-art infrastructure (Cơ sở hạ tầng hiện đại – extremely modern and advanced public facilities), which enhances their overall quality of life. Additionally, cities provide more networking opportunities (Cơ hội kết nối – chances to meet people and build professional relationships), which can be crucial for career development. In contrast, the countryside often lacks these opportunities, making cities more appealing. Ultimately, urban migration is often driven by the desire for upward mobility (Mong muốn tiến thân – the ambition to improve one’s social and financial position).
❓ What problems do big cities face?
One major issue that large cities face is overcrowding (Tình trạng quá đông đúc – when too many people live in a limited space), which leads to congested traffic and increased pollution. This causes urban dwellers (Cư dân thành phố – people who live in a city) to spend hours commuting, reducing their productivity and free time. For example, in megacities like Jakarta or Mumbai, traffic jams can last for hours, making daily life extremely exhausting. Another serious challenge is the rising cost of living (Chi phí sinh hoạt tăng – the increasing amount of money needed for daily expenses), which makes it difficult for low-income families to survive. The widening wealth gap (Khoảng cách giàu nghèo ngày càng lớn – the growing difference between the rich and poor) can lead to social unrest and crime. Furthermore, many cities face housing shortages (Thiếu nhà ở – not enough accommodation for residents), forcing people to live in substandard housing (Nhà ở kém chất lượng – poor-quality and unsafe living conditions). These issues, if not addressed, can severely damage the urban ecosystem (Hệ sinh thái đô thị – the functioning social, economic, and environmental system of a city). Therefore, big cities must implement sustainable policies to avoid long-term decline.
❓ How can cities become more livable?
To make cities more livable, governments should focus on improving public transportation (Cải thiện giao thông công cộng – making buses, trains, and other services more efficient and accessible), which would help reduce traffic congestion and pollution. A well-connected transportation network (Mạng lưới giao thông – a system of roads, subways, and buses) encourages people to leave their private vehicles at home. For instance, cities like Singapore have greatly benefited from integrated transport systems (Hệ thống giao thông tích hợp – coordinated and efficient public transportation systems). Another way to enhance urban life is by expanding green spaces (Mở rộng không gian xanh – creating more parks and natural areas), which can improve mental health and promote physical activity. Moreover, developing more affordable housing projects (Dự án nhà ở giá rẻ – housing options that low- and middle-income people can afford) can help reduce urban inequality (Bất bình đẳng đô thị – unfair differences in quality of life among city residents). It is also essential to invest in smart city technologies (Công nghệ thành phố thông minh – tech-based solutions for managing cities efficiently), such as energy-saving systems and waste management innovations. By addressing these aspects, cities can transform into vibrant, inclusive environments (Môi trường sôi động và toàn diện – lively places that serve all kinds of people). Ultimately, livable cities require careful planning and long-term vision.
