IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:

Today, I would like to tell you about a time when I had to get up extremely early to take an important IELTS test.

It happened a few months ago, when I had an exam scheduled for early in the morning. I needed to arrive at the test centre well before the test started, so I set my alarm for around 5 a.m.

I went there with a close friend of mine, who was also taking the test that day. We hit the road (lên đường – started travelling) while it was still dark outside, and the streets were unusually quiet.

To be honest, getting out of bed at that hour was a real struggle (một thử thách thực sự – something that was difficult to do), especially because I’m more accustomed to staying up late than being an early riser. I was still groggy (ngái ngủ – tired and unable to think clearly immediately after waking up), and I felt as though I was running on next to no sleep (gần như không ngủ – having had very little sleep).

However, once we arrived at the test centre, I gradually became more alert. Having some coffee and talking with my friend helped me shake off the sleepiness (xua tan cơn buồn ngủ – get rid of tiredness or drowsiness), and I started focusing on the exam. The early start actually gave me enough time to get my bearings (định thần và làm quen với hoàn cảnh – become familiar with my surroundings and situation) and mentally prepare myself instead of rushing in at the last minute.

Looking back, I actually think getting up that early was worthwhile for two main reasons. First and foremost, it gave me a head start (lợi thế ban đầu – an advantage gained by starting earlier), because I had plenty of time to travel, check everything I needed, and calm my nerves; for example, I arrived at the venue roughly half an hour early, so I wasn’t pressed for time (bị gấp gáp về thời gian – having very little time available). On top of that, the experience taught me the value of front-loading my preparation (chuẩn bị trước phần lớn công việc – completing important preparation in advance), because being well-prepared made the whole morning much less stressful; for instance, I had packed my belongings and checked the test details the night before, which allowed me to hit the ground running (bắt đầu một cách nhanh chóng và hiệu quả – start an activity immediately and confidently) as soon as I arrived.

Overall, although waking up before sunrise was far from pleasant, I felt a sense of accomplishment (cảm giác hoàn thành tốt việc gì – a feeling of satisfaction after achieving something) afterwards because I managed to stay composed and perform at my best. It was a small but memorable reminder that sometimes stepping out of my comfort zone (bước ra khỏi vùng an toàn – doing something unfamiliar or challenging) is necessary when something genuinely matters to me.>> 🔥 Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR

Part 3: Getting up early

  • Why do people get up early?
  • Are there any situations when it's not good to arrive early?
  • Is it good to arrive early in any situation?
  • Why do some people stay up late at night?
  • Is it easy to get up early?

Part 3: Getting up early

1. Why do people get up early?

There are two main reasons why people rise and shinewake up feeling energetic and ready to start the day / thức dậy với tinh thần tràn đầy năng lượng và sẵn sàng bắt đầu ngày mới — in the early morning.
First and foremost, getting up early allows people to have a head startan advantage gained by starting something earlier / lợi thế có được nhờ bắt đầu sớm — before their daily responsibilities pile up.
This is particularly beneficial for people with time-sensitive commitmentsresponsibilities that must be dealt with at a particular time / những trách nhiệm cần được xử lý đúng thời điểm — such as work, school or appointments.
They can therefore enjoy a relatively distraction-freewithout interruptions or disturbances / không bị gián đoạn, làm phiền — period in which to concentrate on important tasks.
For example, a university student might wake up at 6 a.m. to revise for an exam before their housemates start making noise.
Another reason is that an early start can help people establish a well-structured routinean organised and consistent daily schedule / thói quen hằng ngày có tổ chức và ổn định — which may improve productivity and self-discipline.
Morning routines can also include exercise, meditation or a nutritious breakfast, all of which can contribute to sustained energy levelsenergy maintained over a long period / mức năng lượng được duy trì trong thời gian dài — throughout the day.
For instance, someone who goes for a brisk walk before work may feel more focused and mentally prepared rather than rushing out of bed at the last minute.

2. Are there any situations when it's not good to arrive early?

Yes, arriving early is not always advantageous, particularly when it creates awkward waiting timean uncomfortable period spent waiting unnecessarily / khoảng thời gian chờ đợi không cần thiết và có phần khó xử — for either the person or their host.
One situation is when someone arrives excessively early for a social gathering, because the host may still be putting the finishing touches tomaking final preparations or improvements to something / hoàn tất những khâu chuẩn bị cuối cùng — the event.
In such circumstances, an early arrival could unintentionally put pressure on the host to hurry.
For example, if a guest turns up forty-five minutes before dinner, the host might have to abandon their cooking or cleaning simply to entertain them.
Another potential drawback is that arriving too early for a professional meeting can be counterproductive if the other participants are not ready.
It may result in dead timetime spent waiting without doing anything productive / thời gian chết, thời gian chờ đợi không hiệu quả — and can sometimes make the situation feel unnecessarily formal or uncomfortable.
That said, arriving moderately early is usually preferable because it provides a buffer periodextra time allowed to deal with unexpected delays / khoảng thời gian dự phòng để xử lý sự cố bất ngờ — without being intrusive.
For instance, arriving ten minutes early for an interview is sensible, whereas showing up an hour beforehand could simply mean sitting around with nothing useful to do.

3. Is it good to arrive early in any situation?

Absolutely, arriving early is particularly valuable when punctuality is paramountbeing on time is extremely important / việc đúng giờ là tối quan trọng — and lateness could have serious consequences.
The first situation that comes to mind is a job interview, where being early demonstrates professional etiquettesocially accepted standards of professional behaviour / chuẩn mực ứng xử chuyên nghiệp — and respect for the interviewer’s time.
It also gives candidates a chance to compose themselvesbecome calm and mentally prepared / lấy lại bình tĩnh và chuẩn bị tinh thần — before the interview begins.
For example, someone who arrives fifteen minutes early can check their appearance, review their notes and mentally rehearse their answers.
Another situation is travelling, particularly when catching a flight or a long-distance train, because unexpected delays can easily derail a carefully planned journey.
Arriving early provides a time cushionadditional time available to cope with unforeseen problems / khoảng thời gian dư để đối phó với vấn đề bất ngờ — in case of traffic congestion, security checks or long queues.
For instance, getting to an airport well in advance can prevent a traveller from cutting it fineleaving only a very small amount of time before something happens / đến sát giờ, chỉ chừa lại rất ít thời gian — and potentially missing their flight.
Overall, although excessive punctuality can occasionally be unnecessary, arriving early is generally a smart strategy when reliability and preparation matter.>> 🔥 Nhắn zalo 0905834420 join group zalo Hóng đề thi máy 4 skills để cập nhật đề thi thật 4 kĩ năng hằng ngày [Kèm giải & đề làm online]

4. Why do some people stay up late at night?

There are two main reasons why some people burn the midnight oilwork or study late into the night / làm việc hoặc học tập đến khuya — rather than going to bed early.
First, some people simply have a night-owl dispositiona natural tendency to be more active and alert at night / xu hướng tự nhiên hoạt động và tỉnh táo hơn vào ban đêm — meaning that they feel more productive after dark.
They may find that the nighttime environment is quieter and contains fewer distractions, which allows them to concentrate more effectively.
For example, a freelance designer might complete creative projects at midnight because they can work uninterrupted once their family members have gone to bed.
Another reason is that modern lifestyles often involve screen-based entertainmentleisure activities involving phones, computers or other digital devices / hoạt động giải trí sử dụng thiết bị kỹ thuật số — which can encourage people to postpone bedtime.
Social media, online gaming and streaming platforms can be highly engaging, making it difficult for people to call it a nightdecide to stop an activity and go to bed / quyết định dừng hoạt động và đi ngủ.
For instance, someone may intend to watch one episode of a series but end up staying awake until 2 a.m. because the platform automatically plays another episode.
In addition, people with demanding schedules may deliberately sacrifice sleep to catch up oncomplete something that was not done earlier / hoàn thành phần việc còn thiếu — work, study or personal activities.

5. Is it easy to get up early?

For most people, getting up early is not particularly easy, especially if they have developed an irregular sleep schedulea sleeping pattern that changes considerably from day to day / lịch ngủ không ổn định — or frequently stay up late.
One major difficulty is that the body follows a natural sleep-wake cyclethe biological pattern governing when we feel sleepy and awake / chu kỳ sinh học điều chỉnh trạng thái buồn ngủ và tỉnh táo — which cannot always be changed overnight.
If someone suddenly sets their alarm two hours earlier than usual, they may feel groggy, irritable and mentally sluggish.
For example, a person accustomed to going to bed at 1 a.m. is unlikely to feel refreshed when they suddenly have to wake up at 5 a.m.
Another challenge is the widespread use of smartphones and other digital devices before bedtime, which can encourage people to stay glued toremain constantly focused on or using something / dán mắt vào, liên tục tập trung vào một thứ gì đó — their screens.
Consequently, they may struggle to fall asleep at a reasonable hour and accumulate sleep debta shortage of sleep caused by repeatedly not getting enough rest / tình trạng thiếu ngủ tích lũy — over time.
However, developing a gradual adjustment strategya method of changing something little by little / chiến lược điều chỉnh từng bước — can make early rising considerably easier.
For instance, moving bedtime and wake-up time forward by fifteen minutes every few days, while maintaining a consistent routine, can help the body adapt without causing excessive fatigue.
