    • Example: For example, if someone is traveling to a new city for the first time and gets lost, they may feel anxious and unsure about where to go next. They may worry about their safety or the safety of their belongings, particularly if they are carrying expensive items.

      • Recognizing something familiar provides a sense of reassurance and helps in re-establishing a connection with the surroundings. It could be a building, a distinctive street corner, or any noticeable feature that can aid in regaining a sense of direction.

      • For example, they might try to remember where they came from or look for a building or statue that they recognize. If they have a map or GPS device, they may use it to try to figure out their location and how to get back on track. For instance, when hiking in a forest, one might use a compass and a topographical map to determine their location and plot a route back to the trailhead.
