II. Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 chủ đề Noise
1. Do you mind noises?
Honestly, I do mind excessive noise (too much loud sound – tiếng ồn quá mức) because it often disrupts my ability to concentrate.
Living in a densely-populated (crowded with people – đông dân cư) city means I’m constantly exposed to traffic, construction, and loud conversations.
For instance, when I’m trying to study and someone’s drilling outside, it really gets on my nerves.
To be honest, I wish I lived in a more peace-and-quiet-friendly (suitable for a calm environment – phù hợp với môi trường yên tĩnh) neighborhood.
2. Do any noises bother you?
Yes, high-pitched sounds (sharp and shrill noises – âm thanh chói tai) like car alarms or babies crying tend to irritate me the most.
Such noises can be mentally draining, especially when they occur at unpredictable moments.
Once, I was trying to take a nap and a neighbor’s alarm kept going off — I was on the verge of losing it (idiom: about to get very angry – suýt nữa thì mất bình tĩnh).
I find that these sounds create an atmosphere that’s mentally-exhausting (tiring to the mind – làm tâm trí kiệt sức).
3. Do you think there's too much noise in modern society?
Absolutely, modern life is filled with background noise (continuous low-level noise – tiếng ồn nền) that we’ve become desensitized to.>> Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR
Whether it’s from public transport, loudspeakers, or even smartphones, it’s hard to escape noise nowadays.
I think our tech-saturated (filled with technology – ngập tràn công nghệ) environment is partly to blame for this.
Frankly, silence has become a luxury in the hustle-and-bustle lifestyle (busy and noisy way of living – lối sống ồn ào, bận rộn).
4. Are cities becoming noisier?
Without a doubt, urban areas are becoming increasingly noise-polluted (full of unwanted sounds – bị ô nhiễm tiếng ồn).
This can be attributed to urbanization, rising vehicle use, and non-stop infrastructure projects.
I’ve noticed that even during the night, you can hear round-the-clock traffic (traffic that continues 24/7 – giao thông cả ngày lẫn đêm).
It feels like the city never sleeps and never stays quiet either — it’s exhausting.
5. Where is there louder noise, in cities or in the countryside?
Cities are definitely noisier because they’re packed with sound-producing sources (things that create noise – nguồn tạo tiếng ồn), while rural areas offer more natural silence.
In the countryside, the loudest noise might come from birds or the wind — which is a far cry from (idiom: very different from – khác xa với) city life.
Even though I enjoy city convenience, sometimes I crave the countryside’s noise-free landscape (environment without loud sounds – môi trường không ồn ào).
The contrast is striking when I visit my grandparents’ farm — it’s almost eerily silent (unusually quiet – yên lặng đến rợn người).
6. What type of noise do you come across in your daily life?
Every day, I come across a mix of mechanical noises (sounds from machines – tiếng ồn từ máy móc) like elevators, buses, and air conditioners.
These sounds are part and parcel of city living and are impossible to avoid.
When walking down the street, I often hear a mix of honking cars, loud music from shops, and construction sounds — a full-on urban symphony (mixture of city sounds – bản hòa tấu đô thị).
At some point, I’ve learned to tune it out (phrasal verb: ignore something – làm ngơ).
7. Are there any sounds that you like?
Yes, I actually enjoy the pitter-patter (soft tapping sound – tiếng lộp độp) of rain on my window; it has a soothing effect.
It helps me relax, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed or anxious.
Another sound I love is the rustling of leaves (soft movement sound – tiếng xào xạc của lá) on a breezy day — it instantly calms me down.
Unlike urban noise, these nature-inspired sounds (sounds coming from nature – âm thanh từ thiên nhiên) help me feel more centered and present.
